The Right Way to Brush Dog’s Teeth
Posted by admin under Dog Care
Hi… Yesterday, I pleaded on maintaining good dental hygiene for your dogs, dear dog owners. On this day and forward, I am hoping to see huge smiles when I am meeting with my dog friends. I hope to see them smiling confidently with their pearly white teeth. LOL!!!
All right peeps, lend me your eyes now! (Gee! I can’t say lend me your ears, it’s obvious why, right?) I will enumerate the step by step ways on how to get rid of those tartars and cavities. Let us continue with our campaign on attaining good dental hygiene for your dogs. I think we could start on the very basic step; brushing teeth.
When brushing the teeth of your dog, you will certainly need doggie toothpaste and a toothbrush (or finger toothbrush for some) and some dog treats. I suggest you pick up the toothbrush with soft bristles and toothpaste with edible flavors.
First thing to do is to apply the right amount of toothpaste into the brush. Let the dog smell and taste the flavored toothpaste. The smelling and tasting session would serve as the appetizing moment for your dog. While he is getting used to the flavor and you think he loves it, start lifting your dog’s lips exactly where the teeth on the side of his face are exposed to you. Brush it with an up and down or circular motion. After assuring that you brushed the front of the teeth, proceed on the back of his teeth. The same motion is applied just like what you have done in the front teeth.
After you’ve finished on the top side of the mouth, move and continue brushing the teeth on the bottom side of the mouth.
After that, you may want to praise your dog for a job well done. (Peeps, that is why I mentioned having some dog treats… LOL! ) You can have some dog treats that can serve as dental floss for humans. This come in chewable form and is very edible.
It seems easy, right? You would simply do this if you have all the essential things with you before starting off. Also you can perfectly do this if your dog seems to be comfortable on what you are doing to him. Look for comfortable places and let your bonding time/ brushing time work there. Best of luck! Looking forward on excellent dental hygiene for your dogs! AJA!
