Zoe Shares Her Car Travel with Dad

Hi everyone! I was not able to share some news for several days because I and my Dad went out of town. Now that I am back, there are sure loads of stories that I have encountered during the trip and while us are out of town spending our vacation. To make up for my absence, I would be continuously showering you with all of my stories that are all interesting and enjoyable as well.

While preparing for the trip, I am so excited and many things are playing on my mind about what I anticipate from the vacation. It’s my first time to travel long-distance with my Dad on the wheels. At first, I thought my Dad would allow me to seat beside him. I anticipated that he would position me to the passenger seat beside him or just allow me to sit on his lap or shoulder. Knowing that he wants me to be always close to him, that is what I expected to happen.

I don’t mean to sound bickering but I was disappointed that my thoughts would not materialize. Because my Dad did not allow me to sit beside him neither did he placed me on his shoulder or lap. I felt so lonely when he placed me on the back passenger seat. (I felt like crying during that time, honestly!) I don’t feel secure there. I felt so alone. But as we go along, my Dad may be realizing that I feel quite lonely sitting alone at the back, started to explain why he decided to do that.

“Zoe, I care for you that is the reason why you are there instead of being here by my side or on my lap.” I heard my Dad say that. He was able to tell me the real reason why I have to seat on the doggy seat positioned in the back seat. He doesn’t want to see me get hurt in case he needs to make a sudden break, which may happen at times especially when an emergency stop needs to be done. I might get injured in case I hit the windshield or airbag during an emergency break. There is a great possibility that I might fall over him or bump into him when he needs to make a sharp turn. (I was touched really! I was embarrassed that I felt disappointed a while ago; if only I knew the real reason why)

Yes, folks! For the safety of dogs, it is better that you a special harness for your dog or a dog leash that can be attached to the seat belt. Another safety measure that can also provide enjoyment for your dog is to use a doggy seat, just like the one my Dad provided me with during our trip. Using this doggy seat would offer your dog the chance to watch the panorama of all the places that you are passing through while travelling. This is also another way to ease away the boredom that may occur when travelling long distance.

If your car is a station wagon or a pick up or a sports utility vehicle, it is preferable that you use a dog crate or a grill when transporting or travelling with a dog. Just be sure that your dog is comfortable and safe all throughout the trip.

Before I end this story, I want to say my thanks to my Dad. “Thanks for taking me along, Dad. You are really the best!” This is Zoe saying, “See you later, folks!”
